This workshop is designed to enhance the skills of both beginners and seasoned photographers through in-depth lessons on composition & framing, mastering your equipment, action photography, portraiture, lighting techniques, and countless other creative and practical skills every photographer should have.
This workshop will be led by world renowned photographers Rick Friedman, Rick Ferro, and Vanelli. You’ll work with professional reenactors in authentic civil war era wardrobes, capturing studio portraits and dynamic action shots in T&F Camera's Studio in the Woods.
MEET THE INSTUCTORS
Rick Friedman
Lighting Master/Photojournalist
Rick Friedman has been a photojournalist for over four decades, photographing every presidential candidate since the 1970's, teaching lighting workshops around the globe, and so much more. Based in Boston, he travels the world for numerous publications, corporations, advertising assignments and film and television productions. His published work has appeared in Time, National Geographic, Newsweek, The New York Times, Nature, USA Today, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Stern, Discover and many other publications. His photographs have appeared on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Nightline, 60 Minutes, Saturday Night Live and in numerous documentaries. He has produced over 75 book and magazine covers and worked on 20 movies.
Vanelli
Worldwide Education Director for Skylum Software
Vanelli is a diverse and accomplished professional with global influence in photography, education, writing, martial arts, and poetry. Holding the prestigious Triple Crown in martial arts, he applies this disciplined approach to his sports and portrait photography. As the Director of Education for Skylum Software, creators of Luminar Neo, Vanelli enhances educational resources for photographers worldwide and is a sought-after speaker at major photography conferences.
Rick Ferro
Senior Wedding Photographer at Disney World
Rick Ferro has been a photographer for over 40 years, specializing in wedding photography. His career began when he was hired by UPI and photographed the Miami Dolphins for 13 years. Known for his romantic style of wedding photography, Walt Disney World hired Rick in 1993 to help create the Wedding Photography Department for Disney Photographic Services, which he leads to this day. He has won numerous prestigious awards for his photographic skills and contributions to the field.
Learn Historical Equipment
Each participant will have the opportunity to learn how to operate an authentic Civil War–era camera, gaining hands-on experience with one of the most important photographic technologies of the nineteenth century. Through guided demonstrations, participants will explore how cameras of this period evolved, how they functioned, and the role they played in documenting history.
