Shorebirds:
Wildlife Photography Workshop
Led by Master Photographer: Josh Hauge
"My name is Josh Hauge and I'm a 21 year old photographer and college student. I've always enjoyed nature and wildlife, but as I started getting interested in photography years ago, it quickly became a great creative outlet and also a way to showcase the natural world in a visual manner. I focus my attention primarily on the natural world and hope to showcase the various habitats and environments wildlife species and birds call home. Overall, photography has quickly become one of my biggest passions, and I find myself constantly learning as I attempt to capture moments creatively."

The goal of this workshop is to explore the beauty of coastal habitats that wildlife species call home, while building both technical and creative skills in the field. With a focus on coastal wildlife and shorebirds, we'll aim to capture artistic images using the advantages of sunset and blue hour lighting. I’ll share educational field anecdotes, help identify potential subjects, demonstrate effective photography techniques, and offer constructive image reviews. A major topic will be lighting, covering backlight, silhouettes, color, front light, blue light, urban light, and overcast conditions. We’ll also discuss making the most of your gear, technical settings, creative compositions, and reading wildlife behavior. Fieldwork is an ever-evolving craft, and this workshop is designed to spark new ideas and promote growth in your wildlife and shorebird photography.
